Pier Host Program:

Fisheries, Seals and Sharks

Partnering for Education: CCCFA, AWSC and NASRC

The Northwest Atlantic Seal Research Consortium (NASRC), the Atlantic White Shark Conservancy (AWSC), and the Cape Cod Commercial Fisherman's Alliance (CCCFA) have teamed up since the summer of 2018 to help share expertise and information on sharks, seals and fisheries to the thousands of people who come to visit the Chatham Fish Pier.

This working waterfront is the #1 tourist attraction in Chatham and offers a unique opportunity to see catch unloaded, seals hauled out on the sand bars and venturing in between fishing boats. Monomoy, to the south of the pier, is also home to gray seals, harbor seals and white sharks.

By providing information and training between these three partners, we hoped to myth bust and educate visitors and residents alike.
